Subscribe to Google Reader Feed Bundles

Starting to use Google Reader with only a few feed subscriptions is boring. You already might have added the feeds of websites you frequently visit, but still feel you want more. You have no idea though what sites to subscribe to. So, why not go to the discover page > browse tab to avoid the hassle of browsing the net.

In the browse tab, you can see the packaged bundles Google has prepared. In these bundles are feeds that have similar topics. There are feeds about News, Sports, Food, Celebrities, and Science. If you are into business, you can subscribe to Finance and Small-Business feed bundles. If you want a bit of entertainment, then you can subscribe to Fun and Video. There’s also about Photography, Cars, Technology, Geeky, Thinkers, and a Google-Related feed bundle.

Rest assured that feeds in each bundle are feeds from great sites. Once you click the ’subscribe’ button, you are automatically subscribed to all the feeds listed in that bundle.

You can also manage your feed subscriptions later. First, browse the posts from each feed. If you don’t like reading the feed of a particular site, just go to the ‘Manage subscriptions’ section and delete it. You can add feeds on that bundle too.

I like this feature because it is convenient for new Google Reader users. However, I hope Google Reader will later have ‘Unsubscribe’ button to a feed bundle. So, if ever a user changes his mind he can easily unsubscribe to all feeds in that bundle, instead of having to unsubscribe through ‘Manage subscriptions’.
